The Centre for Interprofessional Clinical Simulation Learning is a joint project between Island Health, UBC Medicine’s Island Medical Program and UVic Faculty of Human and Social Development, School of Nursing. CICSL is designed to provide advanced clinical simulation learning opportunities for both healthcare students and professionals. In addition to a debrief room, two observation rooms, and a videoconference space, CICSL contains a variety of learning laboratories that replicate healthcare settings, including a simulated operating theatre, critical care space, a four patient hospital ward and a living room used to practice in the home care setting.
Interprofessional collaboration is at the heart of this Centre. With its multi-agency collaboration, CICSL not only hosts multiple professions, it also encourages communication between the stakeholders and refection on both individual and team performance. Participants and facilitators both beneft from the opportunity to learn with, from, and about each other.
RnR Rounds is extremely grateful to enjoy access to such a supportive and state of the art facility.
